Epcot * Le Cellier * Desserts

It’s time for my most favorite part of any meal … DESSERT!

Evan & Alec got the make-your-own sundaes, which they were very excited about. It was vanilla ice cream with a cherry. The 3 toppings included: chocolate sauce, sprinkles, and banana chips. They loved making their own sundaes with the chocolate sauce and sprinkles, but neither one wanted the banana chips. I took one out and attempted to bite it. It was very hard and I thought too big for the small ice cream bowl anyway. If they were fresh bananas, I thought it would be better.

Rob ordered the Crème Brulee sampler. He thought it was very good. I didn’t try it as I’m not into that type of dessert.

And now it’s time for my dessert. I ordered the Chocolate “Moose” and it was so cute! Plus it was very very yummy. I wish I could have eaten it all by myself, but Brookie took one look at it and I had to share it. I wanted to tell her to get her own, but I was cheap and didn’t want to pay for another, one so I shared. I even tried to trick her and give her the cookie ears, but she was on to me and wanted the chocolate part. Darn it all. But at least she loved it too.

Note: I believe that Le Cellier has now taken this item off of the menu. What a shame!

So, to sum up our meal here, except for my appetizer and Evan’s steak, the meal was wonderful. What a great way to begin our table service dinners on the Disney Disney Plan! The bill at the end was $145. Our cost for the DDP per day was just short of $100 per day … we got our money’s worth today!

Epcot * Le Cellier * Entrees

I last left you at the end of our appetizers. Brookie was still fast asleep in her stroller, which was very nice for us. Her waking at this point would not be pretty. She is a tiny bit cranky when she wakes up and wants to be held, making it hard to eat.

Onto our main entrée selections …

Alec is not so much into steak now. He wanted the hotdog with fries.

Photobucket

He really liked it. That is, until the last quarter of the hotdog fell out of the bun and onto the floor. I could see that he was getting upset at that. He is my very sensitive child, and tears come easy to him. I quickly told him that was okay because he could have another piece of pretzel bread. I had stopped him from eating them, as he was eating just a bit too much. He was very happy that he could have some more.

Evan really wanted the kid’s sirloin steak. We asked Tamara if Evan could order the steak off the kid’s menu on the DDP without paying the extra $2, and she said absolutely. It came with some yummy looking fries. I don’t know if they were, as I didn’t sample them.

Photobucket

Evan immediately said that the steak smelled funny. Now, you need to know Evan. I think he has the most sensitive nose ever. He is always asking what stinks, smells … saying things like, “What is that DISGUSTING smell?” A lot of the times it is so exaggerated that we ignore him. Which is exactly what we did this time, except we reminded him that he wanted the steak and he should at least try it? He did try a piece and said it tasted awful. We told him to eat his fries. We weren’t that worried, as he had quite a bit of Rob’s duck, and he is not that big of an eater.

Did Rob & I order steak? You bet your dang tush we did! We ordered the same thing, except different. Okay, let me explain.

Rob ordered the 7-ounce Filet Mignon that comes with cream cheese mashed potatoes.

Photobucket

I ordered the same filet except, because I’m not a big fan of mashed potatoes, I asked if I could substitute for the roasted Yukon potatoes, which was no problem again.

Photobucket

We both absolutely loved our filets. They cut like “buttah”. The maple barbecue sauce was not overpowering at all and added just a good flavor to the filet. I must say that I am not a person who ever puts sauces or anything on my steaks. I am usually happy with salt and pepper. But this was delicious! Rob really liked the mashed potatoes, and I really liked my Yukon potatoes.

Nearing the end of our main entrees, Brookie woke up but was still sleepy. So, into Daddy’s arms she went …

Photobucket

Wait! How about a closer shot of the Sleeping Brookie?

Photobucket

She gradually awoke and ate some of Rob’s potatoes and some bread. She also had a couple bites of the filet.

Okay. Now here’s the sad part. Evan’s steak was sitting there with only one bite eaten, so I decided to try it. Well, it tasted horribly awful, and it did smell funny. I felt like the worst mommy at that point. I had Rob try it to make sure it wasn’t me, and he agreed. We should have listened to Evan, and maybe he could have gotten either something else or a new steak. But we were all done with the entrees at that point and ready for dessert. Next time I will take the time to listen to Evan even if it turns out to be him just being dramatic about his "smells”. At least he was looking forward to dessert

Here, have a glance at the dessert menu and try to guess what Rob & I each ordered. We each ordered something different.

Epcot * Le Cellier * Appetizers

I noticed that it was nearing 3:30, and we had an ADR (advanced dining reservation) time of 4:10 at Le Cellier. So we decided to leave The Seas and head on over to Canada. Rob & I were very excited about going to Le Cellier as we had never been there before. I had done my research on All Ears looking at menus and, of course, drooled over the photos that people had posted on the DISboards. I had practically already known what I was going to order.

As we were nearing Canada we looked down at Brooke and she was asleep in the stroller. Oh no … not for our first sit down meal! What were we going to do with her? I walked into Le Cellier, and I waited to check us in. The couple in front of us was asking if they could get a reservation to eat tonight. The CM (cast member) kindly said, “I’m sorry but we are completely booked for dinners until July 7th.” Whoa! I knew it was hard to get into the place but didn’t realize how booked they were. The couple was totally stunned and wanted the CM to help them make another ADR for someplace else in the Showcase. The only places available were Marrakesh, Biergarten, and Teppenaki. The couple shook their head and thanked them. So, as I checked us in, I asked if we could possibly have a table that we could bring the single light-weight stroller in. They said it would be no problem.

I ran outside and told Rob & the boys to come on in and bring Sleeping Brookie. The room was crowded with people waiting to be seated, but we did fit in. We had a prime view of the CMs singing “O Canada!” in both English and French –- at the same time. It was almost a show-off between 2 of the CMs, but it was very fun to watch.

We waited as everyone but us were seated, and then they finally sat us with the stroller. We were seated in the Quebec room (which is the first room you walk in to). Our waitress was Tamara and she was absolutely great with everything. She explained the room, the breads, refilled everything without asking. She was “spot on”! We took a couple of pictures before we received our food.

... and me & Alec.

Photobucket

We were seated next to a server station, which I wasn’t sure if I would like or not, but it turned out that there was nobody on either side of us and we had more room, which was great as I had heard how some seats in here are very tight together. Everyone thought I was odd when I took this picture of the server’s station. I added Evan in there just to “make it look good”.

Photobucket

Right after I took that picture Rob asked, "Did you just take a picture of the server's station?" I said, "Of course I did. I have to show my friends where we sat for my report." He just shook his head and said I was crazy and no one would care. Do you all care? If the answer is no, then please not answer. Ha!

Also, it was the first of many shakes of the head whenever I wanted to take pictures of the food before anyone took a bite. The boys really did warm up to my food picture taking the more I did it.

Along came our scrumptious bread … and Evan smiling in between ...

Photobucket

… with butter.

Photobucket

Evan ordered the cheddar cheese soup for appetizer, which he didn’t really want but I told him he had to order something.

Photobucket

He didn’t eat it. I tried it and didn’t care for it, but I’m not into cheese soups anyway. Rob had a sip, and I can’t remember if he liked it but it pretty much just sat on the table.

Alec got the carrots & celery with ranch dip as an appetizer, which he also did not want but ate a couple carrots. No picture of that. I’m sure you can picture some sliced carrots and celery.

Rob ordered the Duck Two Ways which he absolutely loved! Evan loved it too and they shared that. In fact, I think they licked the plate clean.

Photobucket

Next it was my turn. Oh boy, I knew exactly what I wanted as I had seen so many pictures of it online. I ordered the Shrimp Cocktail.

Photobucket

It looked so good that I dug right in. Well, I didn’t like it. The shrimp were very mushy, and I didn’t like the spicy taste. I like spicy foods but not this one. I tried to take a few more bites but then gave up. Why eat something if you don’t like it? No one else would try it and I didn’t blame them.

Up next ... our entrees.
